SAF Maintains Floral Industry’s Influence in Washington - safnow.org
Influence in Washington with Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX)

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) at event hosted by SAF.

SAF participated in two events this week to express its support for two prominent members of Congress, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL).

Rep. Cuellar sits on the influential House Subcommittee on Agriculture Appropriations which determines funding levels for the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its programs. During the event hosted by SAF, the importance of the Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative (FNRI) and the Floriculture Crops Summary were discussed. Both of those issues were taken to Capitol Hill by SAF members during Congressional Action Days in March.

Rep. Rodney Davis sits on the House Committee on Agriculture and serves on the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research and the Subcommittee on Nutrition which has jurisdiction over USDA programs important to the floriculture industry including FNRI. Rep. Davis has been a consistent and reliable supporter of the floriculture industry in Congress and on the Agriculture Committee.

In supporting members of Congress who support the floriculture industry, SAF through SAFPAC , its political action committee, works to ensure that friends of the industry are elected to Congress and that the floral industry has visibility and influence in Washington, DC.

SAFPAC is the only political action committee actively working in Washington to promote and protect the floriculture industry.
