Federal Government Seeks Grower Input on Hemp Production Program -

The federal government is seeking input from growers on hemp production in the United States — and the Society of American Florists is encouraging its members to be part of the conversation.

SAF’s senior lobbyist Joe Bischoff, Ph.D., will present a webinar update on the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program on Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. EST. The 30-minute session will include 10 minutes of question-and-answer time. Register for the SAF webinar.

During the SAF webinar, Bischoff will discuss the differences between hemp-related provisions of the 2014 Farm Bill and the 2018 Farm Bill and provides details of the requirements included in that interim final rule.

“This is an opportunity for floral industry members to both become more educated on the relevant provisions in the Farm Bill and to ensure their voices are heard in Washington,” said Bischoff. “We know that, in any industry-related issue, real-world feedback from business owners can make all the difference in crafting sensible, growth-minded regulations.”

Growers have until Dec. 30 to weigh in on the program’s interim final rule. Read more about the background of the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program.

Mary Westbrook is the editor in chief of Floral Management.
