A new reality television series aims to introduce viewers to the splendor of floristry — and help elevate an aspiring design star.

The show, “In Full Bloom,” is a competition-based program, akin to “Top Chef,” “Project Runway” and “American Idol,” which will run on HBO Max. In it, 10 designers will face off with floral challenges over the course of eight episodes, each ending with an elimination. The last designer standing will receive a grand prize up to $100,000.

The competition is open to “budding florists” — that is, hobbyists, freelancers or employees in a flower shop. “We’re looking for people who haven’t had their big break yet,” said Benjamin Baldwin of Mysticart Pictures, which is casting the show. “This is an opportunity for people to turn their dreams into reality. The idea is that the winner will use the prize money to start his or her own business.”

Though the contestants will be judged strictly on their design skills, “television looks for great stories and personalities,” Baldwin said. Casting agents — and viewers — want “stories that capture the heart,” he said. Applicants should be prepared to share what inspires and drives them. “Ultimately, we intend to show people from lots of different walks of life,” Baldwin explained.

“In Full Bloom” will shoot for 20 days this coming March in Los Angeles. It will be shot with ultra-high-definition film “and have the upscale production value you expect of HBO,” Baldwin said. “This will not be your run-of-the-mill reality show on cable.”

In addition to discovering and promoting a new floral design star, “In Full Bloom” will bring the artistry of floral design to life for audiences. “We’re treating this as an ‘escape from reality.’ We want people to enjoy some truly beautiful floral creations,” Baldwin said.

Mysticart Pictures will be casting the show up until the last week of January, but Baldwin recommends interested parties apply as soon as possible. Click here to apply.
