‘Leadership Exchange’ Explores ‘What’s Next?’ - safnow.org

Panelists for SAF’s Leadership Exchange: Mother’s Day Debrief are Kaitlin Radebaugh of Radebaugh Florist & Greenhouses; Tim Dewey of DVFlora; Chris Drummond, AAF, PFCI (moderator) of Penny’s by Plaza Flowers; Liza Roeser of FiftyFlowers; Patrick Busch of Len Busch Roses

What do Mother’s Day results tell us about the floral industry’s “new normal”? How will our operations change? And, what will be the impact of COVID-19 on flower purchases? The Society of American Florists is bringing together floral industry leaders to explore these and other questions in a two-part Leadership Exchange virtual event

“A key part of SAF’s role in the industry is to bring together different voices, to help share experiences and clarify new information, including data surrounding major holidays,” said SAF CEO Kate Penn. “This is an opportunity for the entire industry to engage in thoughtful discussions and find ideas and solutions as we all work to chart our way forward, together, in this new environment.”

Each Leadership Exchange will include time for Q&A from participants. Mark your calendar for these can’t-miss sessions:

May 28: Leadership Exchange: Mother’s Day Debrief

Mother’s Day sales exceeded the expectations of many, according to a survey of SAF members. Seventy percent of floral industry members who were open for Mother’s Day reported an increase in sales. How equipped was the industry to meet the demand, given the staffing and social distancing challenges? What operational changes were employed for Mother’s Day that might stick through the summer? Join SAF President Chris Drummond, AAF, PFCI, as he moderates a panel of industry leaders for a Mother’s Day debrief to discuss what worked, what didn’t and how businesses must adapt their expectations – and operations – are shifting as our industry heads into summer. Panelists for this session are SAF Board Members Kaitlin Radebaugh of Radebaugh Florist & Greenhouses; Liza Roeser of FiftyFlowers; Patrick Busch of Len Busch Roses; and SAF Wholesalers Council Member Tim Dewey of DVFlora.

June 11: Leadership Exchange: Will COVID Impact Flower Buying?

SAF and the Floral Marketing Research Fund recently commissioned a consumer poll to determine how consumer buying behavior may change in the wake of the pandemic. Will flower budgets shrink? Will consumers purchase less frequently — or more frequently — than in the past? What are the top factors that will influence flower-buying in the next six months? Safety protocols? Budget? Be among the first to hear the results of this survey, as Texas A&M University’s Charlie Hall, Ph.D., leads a panel of industry experts as they discuss the results and what they mean to floral businesses moving forward.
