Philadelphia Florist Appears on ABC Sitcom - safnow.org

“The Goldbergs” is a slightly fictionalized version of creator Adam Goldberg’s childhood in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania during the 1980s. Goldberg grew up across the street from longtime SAF members Charles and Gina Kremp and their sons, Chad, Drew, Steve and Scott. Several of the Kremps have made cameos on the show.

Fans of “The Goldbergs” on ABC may have noticed that the zany family of five has some pretty familiar neighbors.

The series is a slightly fictionalized version of creator Adam Goldberg’s childhood in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania during the 1980s. Goldberg grew up across the street from for SAF President Charles Kremp, AAF, his wife, Gina Kremp and their sons, Chad, Drew, Steve and Scott. The floral family materializes often in the show’s storylines; in fact, there’s even an episode titled “The Kremps” (season 1, episode 8), which highlights the family business, Kremp Florist.

Several of the Kremps  — Charles, Gina, Chad and Drew — have also had cameo roles. On Wed., January 3, matriarch Beverly Goldberg seeks to form a posse — Gina, included — that would grow old together in Florida (à la “The Golden Girls”). The real Gina Kremp appeared during the credits.

Reliving childhood experiences on national T.V. “has been surreal,” said Chad Kremp, who made many home movies with the show’s protagonist, using a RCA camcorder — many of which work their way into the show. “Our dream was to some day have our own studio called ‘Chadam Productions’,” he recalled. Customers, too, get a thrill from the Kremps’ brush with fame.

“It’s amazing how often they bring up the show,” Chad Kremp said. “We just had some fans stop in over the weekend and ask to take their picture with us. Our delivery drivers get stopped on the street and asked if it’s the same florist from ‘The Goldbergs.’ Our 1-square-mile suburb is now known worldwide!”

To capitalize on the excitement, Kremp Florist offers a special “Bev bouquet.”
