Fashion-Forward Book Puts Flowers Front and Center - safnow.org

“In Bloom,” published in November 2020 ($85.99), celebrates Christian Dior’s fertile imagination and his endless love of flowers, which surrounded and inspired the famed French designer throughout his life.

Looking to round out your social media calendar with some holiday-adjacent content that helps position you as an expert among your fashionista clients? A new book that marries the two loves — flowers and fashions — of a world-renowned couture designer is out just in time for the holidays, with a preview that’s perfect for sharing on Instagram and Facebook.

In Bloom,” published in November 2020 ($85.99), celebrates Christian Dior’s fertile imagination and his endless love of flowers, which surrounded and inspired the famed French designer throughout his life: Before Dior dressed Marlene Dietrich and Princess Margaret in floral-inspired gowns, he was a kid racing to the mailbox to retrieve seed packets for his mother’s flower garden. At the height of his career, he called his iconic cinched-waisted silhouettes “flower women.” And, lily of the valley (Dior’s rumored favorite flower) appeared as an embroidered embellishment on some of the brand’s earliest creations.

A new preview of the book from The Cut describes “In Bloom’s” lush contents, including “rarely seen photographs of Dior’s gardens and detail shots of the house’s best floral creations over the years” along with arresting, close-up portraits of roses by acclaimed British photographer Nick Knight.

The write-up also references one of Dior’s best-known (and most flower-friendly) quotations: “After woman, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world.” (Pssst… Bookmark that quote now for your Valentine’s Day content calendar or save it for card message inspiration the next time a customer really wants to make a big impression!)
