Thanks to strategic outreach by the Society of American Florists, tens of millions of American women were reminded last month that “just because” may be one of the best reasons to send or receive flowers.
In its “News You’ll Use” Health section in late February, First For Women magazine devoted a colorful quarter page to illustrate the top five occasions “when women love to receive flowers”: “80% Just because; 64% On our birthday; 54% On our anniversary; 43% to say thank you; and 42% When we’re sick.”
These figures come from a 2015 SAF omnibus survey to gauge consumers’ perceptions about flowers in a variety of situations.
First For Women has a circulation of 17.6 million.
This news coverage is a direct result of SAF’s outreach program to traditional media in an effort to generate media coverage of the positive benefits of flowers. The program is possible thanks to the SAF Fund for Nationwide Public Relations, which is supported by SAF retail dues and voluntary contributions by wholesalers, suppliers, importers and growers.
