Last month, we reported on the New York Yankees’ long-running program of sending flowers to funerals around the country for officers killed in the line of duty. A few days ago, SAF member Kaitlin Radebaugh, AAF, shared her experience of working with the Yankees.
“We have filled orders for them, most recently for Officer Amy Caprio, who was killed in Baltimore County, and I am sure many other SAF florists have as well,” said Radebaugh, co-owner of Radebaugh Florist & Greenhouses in Towson, Maryland.
Southard posted on her personal Facebook page a feature article The New York Times ran about the program, as well as an enclosure card from an arrangement the shop did for the Yankees.
“It really is a moving article and sheds such a nice light on the effects of receiving flowers when many people are leaning towards ‘in lieu of’ notices at times like these,” she said. “I was really moved at how many people took the time to read it and commented on how wonderful it was.”
