The Society of American Florists will hold its annual member meeting on Sept. 8 during SAF Orlando 2022, the organization’s 137th annual convention in Orlando, Florida.
During the meeting, the winners of the SAF board and council elections will be announced, and Michael Pugh, AAF, will give the annual treasurer’s report. SAF members will also vote on proposed bylaws changes related to executive committee terms and titles. SAF voting members can review the details of the proposed changes in a member communication sent in advance of convention.
The voting period is currently underway for the election of SAF volunteer leaders. SAF members will elect one representative from each industry segment to join SAF’s board of directors. Candidates for the grower and wholesaler board seats are running uncontested. Once elected, the new members of SAF’s board of directors will serve three-year terms beginning in November.
Twelve candidates are running for nine open seats on the Growers, Retailers and Wholesalers Councils. Candidates for the Growers and the Wholesalers Councils are running uncontested. Elected council members will serve a three-year term, which begins in 2023.
Each SAF designated voting member received an electronic ballot on July 1 to choose the next growers, retailers and wholesalers to represent them on SAF’s councils and board. If you didn’t receive your ballot via email, email aroberts@safnow.org. Ballots must be cast by Aug. 1.
Katie Butler is the senior vice president of the Society of American Florists.
