Irving Casiano Flores, the account manager for sales and marketing at Flower Shop Network, recently spoke at SAF’s Next Gen LIVE! event in Miami.

Irving Casiano Flores is the account manager for sales and marketing at Flower Shop Network, a members-only network of local florists that provides tools and services to retailers. Casiano Flores began his journey in the floral industry 10 years ago when he had just graduated college with a mathematics degree. When he began working at Flower Shop Network, he thought it would only be a summer job.
“I joined the sales team, and the rest is history,” he says. “I fell in love with the floral industry.”
Best Business Advice
Learning how to listen has been the best advice he’s ever received, especially in sales, a position which he says requires him to be optimistic and persistent. “For instance, when I am talking with a potential customer by phone and hear the word ‘no,’ I see it as just a version of ‘not yet,’” he says.

Favorite Part of His Job
Casiano Flores’ favorite part of his job is the people.
“The people I work with are so friendly and kind,” he says. “We truly see each other as family.”
He also appreciates that his job allows him to travel to meet new and see old industry friends, especially since traveling is one of his passions. “I love going to the many floral conventions throughout the year because I get to see friends from all branches of the industry,” he says.
Why SAF?
Flower Shop Network has been an SAF member since 1997. Casiano Flores has enjoyed being part of several SAF events, including its 1-Day Profit Blasts and most recently, Next Gen LIVE! in Miami, where he told his story of immigrating to America from Mexico as a 13 year-old, during a a TED Talks-style session.
“The energy and engagement of the next gen group is exceptional,” he says. “We have lots of new ideas!”
But his favorite part about being an SAF is the opportunity the organization provides to network.
“My favorite thing about being an SAF member is the numerous connections I’ve made within the floral industry, from retail florists to wholesalers and technology companies,” he says.
